Commonly affiliated with the Tiger hand seal, Fire Release techniques are mid-to-long-ranged that cause burning and destructive damage. Fire Release Ninjutsu is common among Konohagakure ninja, the Uchiha Clan were known to be especially proficient with its use.

The Water Release (水遁, Suiton; English TV "Water Style") area of elemental Nature Transformation are techniques that allow the user not only to manipulate but (in the case of a master) generate water as well. Possibly the most versatile of the five basic chakra natures, Water Release techniques can not only change shape but form as well. The affinity for Water Release is common to shinobi of Kirigakure.

Earth

The Earth Release (土遁, Doton; English TV "Earth Style") area of Nature Transformation are techniques that allow the user to manipulate the surrounding earth for offensive and defensive purposes. Commonly affiliated with the Snake seal, Earth Release techniques have the ability to change the hardness and composition of the earth from being as hard as metal to as soft as clay using these techniques. Earth Release affinities are the most common among the ninja of Iwagakure. Earth Release is naturally strong against water but likewise, Earth Release is also naturally weak against lightning. Earth Release is also a component in the advanced chakra natures, Dust Release, Lava Release, and Wood Release.

Lightning

The Lightning Release (雷遁, Raiton; English TV "Lightning Style") area of elemental Nature Transformation are techniques that allow the user to generate lightning by increasing the high frequency vibrations of their chakra.
Lightning Release techniques are fast-moving and cause not only electrical but piercing damage as well. Common to the ninja of Kumogakure, a Lightning Release jutsu is naturally strong against an earth jutsu, and weak against wind.
In addition, possibly along with water, lightning is presumably one of the components for the Storm Release nature.

Wind

The Wind Release (風遁, Fūton; English TV "Wind Style") area of elemental Nature Transformation are offensive type techniques that allow the user to manipulate wind by shaping their chakra to be as sharp and as thin as possible, not unlike the blades of a pair of scissors.

The rarest (though the affinity appears to be common among ninja of Sunagakure) of the five basic elemental chakra natures, Wind Release techniques are suited for short-to-mid-range combat, and combine brute force and precision to deal cutting and slashing damage. Users can even channel wind-natured chakra into blades to increase their range and cutting power. Wind Release manipulation is achieved by learning how to split a leaf in two with chakra then halting the flow of water.

Wind Release is naturally strong against lightning, but likewise, Wind Release is also naturally weak against fire. In the case of a combination, it augments the strength of a Fire Release technique as well as increases the concussive power of a Water Release technique.

Storm Release (嵐遁, Ranton) is an combination nature kekkei genkai that combines Lightning Release and Water Release to create energy beams that can be guided towards the enemy. These energy beams are capable of flowing like water.

Scorch

Combination: Wind + Fire

Scorch Release (灼遁, Shakuton) is a combination chakra nature kekkei genkai. This nature creates waves of visible heat that is capable of heating up an enemy to the point where all the liquid inside their body evaporates, killing the victim and leaving them a dessicated corpse. It is a mixture of Fire and wind Release natures.

Sand

Combination: Wind + Earth

Sand Release (サントン, Santon) is a combination chakra nature kekkei genkai. This nature allows manipulation over large amounts of sand through willpower alone. The element is capable of hardening itself into a sand-stone like defense, as well as soar through the air, allowing the users to fly atop the sand. Sadly, this element can not create sand, though it can expand pre-existing sand by quite an amount, this, it is recommended for users of this element to carry sand with them.

Magnetism

The Lava Release (熔遁; 溶遁, Yōton; Viz "Corrosion Style" or "Lava Style") jutsu are techniques that combine fire and earth-based chakra to create torrents of lava. This combination element is capable of creating the lava through it's chakra, allowing one to use Lava in a similar way one would use Water Release.

Explosion

Explosion Release (爆遁, Bakuton) is an advanced chakra nature that is made by combining both Fire Release and Lightning Release natures. This chakra nature gives the wielder the ability to utilize explosive chakra in combat, allowing them to cause explosions in objects they come into contact with.

Crystal

Combination: Earth + Lightning
Application Position: Combination

The Crystal Release (晶遁, Shōton; English TV "Crystal Style") are techniques that manipulate crystal. Using Crystal Release, the user can crystallize anything around them, turning everything into a weapon. The Crystal Release cannot crystallize raw chakra, allowing a person with enough chakra control to resist being inwardly crystallized.
