Just under an hour ago, the young Kirigakure jounin had been surrounded by the mist covering her village of the same name. Now, the woman was walking along a path in the middle of a forest where the island's mist was barely visible. Usagi Tsumiko had grown up with the mist of her home country, but it was nice to have an occasionally clearer view of the landscape she was in. If she continued southeast for an hour longer, she would be sure to come across the ocean, but there was no need to go as far as that. The water was not something that interested her enough to visit, especially with the unpredictability of natural disasters these days.
The solitude this forest consistently provided her with would continue to be the main reason Usagi made regular trips there. The village itself had far too many people watching and observing, which only served to set her teeth on edge. Plus, after being appointed as a jounin, she had gained many responsibilities, further limiting any free time she may have had before.
Usagi was heading towards a clearing in the forest which she had become familiar with years ago. It had once served as her refuge from the oppressive laws governing the shinobi world, but more recently had become a place dedicated to her training. When she had first started the clearing, she had not wanted to be tracked to this , and made sight seals on the upper bark of about five trees in the forest. She'd used some very strategically placed vantage points from trees all along the forest pathway, and the chakra-imbued ink still remained in tact on the trees as far as she knew. She only used the ones closest to the clearing itself, though, and did not do so often.
Usagi entered the clearing a few moments after straying east from the forest's main pathway. It was large enough for one to see a decent portion of the sky above, and the trees formed a distorted oval around the area. The atmosphere seems a bit off... was what went through Usagi's mind in the ensuing moments of stillness. The moments passed without incident, though, so she did not allow any irrational, inconclusive thoughts to cross her mind. Rather than immediately get started on her training, as she had planned to do, her mind urged her to assure that everything was okay. That meant she would have to check up on the sight seals she'd placed in the forest, which was an annoying task in and of itself; nevertheless, this kunoichi did not allow such trivial feelings compromise her judgement, i.e. her sudden paranoia of not being the only one in the forest. Without so much as a hesitant pause, Usagi's left hand lifted and her eye swiftly shut. She placed the pointer and middle finger, which moved to slightly resemble a one-handed Ram or Tiger seal, of her hand over the eye she had closed. A small amount of chakra was channeled for a connection to the nearest seal.
Nothing.
She next checked a seal that was fifty meters away, and was seemingly fortunate in deciding to check this one next. Usagi could see the figure of a shinobi moving along, and towards the direction of the clearing. She had a strong feeling that this particular figure was familiar, yet her mind failed at procuring the exact memory that made her feel this way. She was normally very good--extremely good--with memory, so whoever this person was must've been insignificant. Then again, the placement of the seal she looked out from was high above the moving figure, so she couldn't see the face or even much else. Despite this, Usagi was sure she knew this person. She let out a small growl-like sound under her breath. Why couldn't she remember exactly where she'd seen this figure? More importantly, was it friend or foe?
Usa quickly dropped her jutsu, removing her fingers from her eye and opening it as she regained her bearings. She bore a frown on her face, but since he posed no immediate threat, she would not flee. Instead, she made her way up a tree on the clearing's outskirts, then settled onto a branch 15 or so meters off the ground. From there, she could see down into the clearing, but could not see much else because of the density of the trees. The slight mist did not help, either, but she was used to that.
From her spot in the tree, the A-rank jounin stayed on guard as she removed her right glove and stuffed it in one of the pouches on her shinobi belt. If this person turned out to be a foe, she would be ready for the inevitable fight.

- Sight Seal:
- Name: Sight Projection Seal*
Rank: C
Type: Fūinjutsu
Description: This seal is rather basic in application and usage. It can be applied to an inanimate object or even a living thing. It takes the form of a kanji meaning "sight" and allows the user to completely see through it as if it were their eye by simply closing one of their eyes and placing their fingers over said eye. They will then channel a connection with the seal, establishing a link in which they may see. Only two may be active at once, however, as the user only has two eyes. It is primarily used for the purpose of research or recon. It takes up a decent amount of chakra over long durations, and can only be used for 4 posts at any one time, and can only be used twice in one post.
